A small plane crash landed directly into Oniel Kurup’s car in Texas, but he says his Tesla X saved him.
In a bizarre incident in Texas, an Indian-origin man, Oniel Kurup, escaped a plane crash unhurt. What makes his story even more unbelievable is not that the plane crashed directly into his car, but that the car, a Tesla X, ensured that he escaped what could have been a fatal tragedy, without a scratch!
In a Facebook post that Oniel put up on September 19, he said, “Want to let all my friends and family know that Aarav and I are completely fine.. GOD and this CAR truly saved us today (sic).” The pictures attached show a heavily damaged Tesla car with the plane that crashed straight into it. Oniel wrote that no one believed him when he narrated the incident, including his wife, and even Tesla, where people thought it was prank call.
“Jokes aside, this was a serious matter, I saw my life flash in that minute. A second is all it takes,” he said.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk also responded to the incident, tweeted by another Tesla X user. “Wow, glad they are ok!” he said.
TESLA Model X involved in a plane crash. And no, it was not the fault of TESLA or the driver. That’s why I love my TESLA. Safe vehicle. @elonmusk @Tesla @alphacali pic.twitter.com/QN2y7u0MuY

According to reports, it was a small Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) plane which crash landed on Voss Road near Highway 6, Sugar Land area, as it attempted to make an emergency landing due to some technical glitches. The plane had three DEA agents, and one of them was reportedly injured.
While Oniel escaped unhurt, Fort Bend County Sheriff Troy Nehls told the Houston Chronicle, “Imagine you’re just driving down Voss Road in Fort Bend County and all the sudden an aircraft strikes your vehicle. That would be enough to put in a cardiac arrest.” He added that they were fortunate that the incident was not more catastrophic. He also commended the pilot for veering the aircraft on to the road rather than the residential neighbourhood nearby.
Another person living in the neighbourhood pointed out that the plane crashed during school time, when there were kids around. Fortunately, none of the civilians were reported injured. However, the plane did break several power lines and hit many cars as it plunged down. It was also leaking fuel, but thankfully, did not catch fire.
